For those that may not know, Howdy Doody was a very popular 1950s children’s show starring Buffalo Bob Smith and a freckled, red-haired marionette named Howdy Doody. The titular Dell comic was nothing to sneeze at popularity-wise, either. It lasted 38 issues between 1950 and 1956. This pretty, painted cover is possibly the work of Mel Crawford.
These two stories are pretty typical of the adventures Howdy and his pal, Dilly Dally, found for themselves in this bi-monthly title. This may be the work of Dan Gormley (particularly the second story, “The Seven-League Shoestring”), but I am open to suggestion.
