FRANKENSTEIN COMICS - "How I Became a Genii In a Magic Bottle"

Kids and friends, it's time for another selection from the Karswell Kollection! Normally, friend Karswell prefers the shadow world of pre-code horror comics. His blog, THE HORRORS OF IT ALL, is a four-color museum of said work. Do like I do. Read every post. All the cool kids read THOIA!

But Karswell loves kids' comics! He has a swell collection of fun stuff in his Kollection and, like any good kid, he likes to share. This is from Frankenstein Comics no. 5, November/December 1946. The artist is Dick Briefer, whose rich inks are so relaxed, bold, and unbound by fuss; his creation screams happy!

Krazy Kat Comics - "Gee Whizzer!" & "Snow Fallin'!"

The art here is unaccredited, but it is superfine: loose and relaxed - perfectly bouncy and fluid. It also captures the surreal, sparse beauty of Herriman's original series! This is from the Karswell Kollection - Krazy Kat Comics No. 4, February-April 1952.
